Daniel Grimes joined the NBC 29 team in July of 2019 after graduating with a master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia, so he's excited to rediscover the delicious restaurants, sprawling vineyards and sporting events (go 'hoos!) that Charlottesville has to offer.
After undergrad, Daniel taught in Brooklyn through Teach for America. He then recruited for Uncommon Schools, a network of high performing charter schools in the Northeast.
He discovered his passion for media after a friend approached him to host a talk-show on a digital media website. The talk show was not picked up, but the experience ignited Daniel's passion for storytelling.
When he's not at work you can find him eating chocolate or cheese somewhere in town!
The University of Virginia School of Nursing says the program saw a significant increase in applicants this year. That, while a student group is seeking to increase the amount of diversity in years to come.
Albemarle County is one of the more expensive areas to live in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Despite high costs, Albemarle County Board of Supervisors say the county is losing out on key funding from the state for things like education because it's not designated as a "cost to compete area."
